Day 6

In 40 days in the word, Blog

SCRIPTURE

When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom.
He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.
I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with a rod wielded by men, with floggings inflicted by human hands.
But my love will never be taken away from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you.
Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me; your throne will be established forever.’ “

2 Samuel 7: 12-16

MEDITATION

  1. What does God promise to do for David’s offspring?
  2. These promises to David would not be fulfilled in his lifetime. How do you think this made David feel?
  3. Who is the offspring that will come of David who “will endure forever”?
  4. God’s timing is not always in line with ours. In what ways do you need to trust God to fulfill His promises according to his timing?

 PRAYER

“Father, we thank you for your promises to bless your people. Thank you for fulfilling your promise to David through Jesus and for establishing his throne forever. Give us the courage to share the truth that our Lord reigns forever and will love us unconditionally for eternity with others in our lives today. Amen.”
