Day 11

In 40 days in the word, Blog

SCRIPTURE

He said:
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5: 13-16

MEDITATION

  1. What does it mean to be the “salt of the world” and in what ways can we as Christ followers live this out?
  2. How does salt lose its saltiness? In what ways can you protect, maintain or improve your own “saltiness”?
  3. Jesus didn’t just tell us to be the salt and light of the world, but he demonstrated these values in how he lived his own life as well. How can we be the salt and light of the world like Jesus was?
  4. Who in your life would benefit from seeing the light of Jesus?

 PRAYER

“Lord, thank you for living your life as an example for us. May you open our eyes to opportunities in our daily lives where we can live boldly as salt and light in the world. Help us to keep our “saltiness” from being contaminated by the world, and may your light shine bright through us in this dark world! Amen.”
