Day 1

In 40 days in the word, Blog

I would like to invite you to get into the word of God with me for the next forty days, right up until Easter. I believe that as we embark on this journey together, we will be encouraged, inspired and changed by the sheer power of God’s Holy Word. You can catch the readings on our Facebook page and Website daily.

There pointers before you start to read:

  1. Ask : The Holy Spirit to help you understand the magnificence of what you are reading. Ask   those important, what, where, why, who, when and how does it apply to my life.
  2. Seek : A quiet place and time to read daily.
  3. Knock : Knock off the noise that surrounds your head.

SCRIPTURE

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.
I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.
‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

Revelation 21:1-5

MEDITATION

  1. What are you most excited about Jesus making new when he returns?
  2. If God was willing to grant you newness in any part of your life right now, what would you ask him to restore?
  3. Why do you think “the one who is seated on the throne” (Jesus) wanted to make sure these words were written down for us?
  4. Is there anyone in your life who would benefit greatly from hearing these words of promise?

 PRAYER

“Father thank you for sending Jesus to rescue us from this broken world! Thank you for the promise of restoration you have spoken over us. As we wait for your full and complete restoration to take place thank you for giving us courage and grace. May we hold tight to and rest in your hand as we share your offer of hope with those you have brought into our lives who need it. Amen.”
